Join Sarah Sedwick in her hometown of Eugene, Oregon, for this unique four-day workshop, in conjunction with her solo show at Maude Kerns Art Center - painting right in the gallery! The opening reception will be held on the workshop’s final day, making this a great destination for those who’ve wanted to study with Sarah, and visit Eugene at our most beautiful time of the year.
Paint more loosely, and take the mystery out of color mixing! Using only three colors and white, we will explore the alla prima painting technique, working from fun, colorful still lives, as well as a live model.
We begin with the fundamentals of value and composition design, mixing a full palette of colors from only three tubes of paint! Simplify your palette, work wet-on-wet for a rich, satisfying effect, and get a new perspective on the still life - plus great tips for bringing inspiration to your own studio practice.
Quick exercises, longer duration paintings, demos, and critiques will fill our days. Sarah will demonstrate her process, and work with each student individually.
