The natural world is full of awe inspiring environments, and there are few experiences more exciting than capturing a sense of these places through paint. During this six week class we will explore the basic principles of landscape painting; including composition, value, depth, and color. We will paint directly from life in parks and wild spaces around Eugene, and if the weather gets too cold we’ll paint indoors from photo reference. This class will also touch on essential techniques of oil painting such as paint application, edge control, and color mixing. While oil is my medium of choice, students are welcome to bring any other painting mediums that they have experience working in and would like to try in the field! Prior painting experience is preferred and reliable transportation is required.
